By the 1st February 2016, all subscriptions, including Maintenance must be renewed ‘on-time’. You will no longer have the opportunity to be able to ‘late renew’ your subscription.

If you do not renew your subscription ‘on-time’ you will lose subscription benefits and will also have to purchase a new licence.

‘On-time’ = As of February 1st you will get 30 days to renew expired subscriptions, not the current 364 days.

Urgent Announcement – Autodesk Support for Windows 10

With Windows 10 now being officially available and with some users seeing the upgrade link on their work or home computers the temptation is to download this latest free upgrade without considering the wider implications of the upgrade.

As with any business environment it is crucial however that wherever possible, operating system (and other critical system) upgrades are not performed in a production environment without ensuring that business critical software and hardware support the changes or upgrading to a new operating system.

For Autodesk software, currently Windows 10 is not yet an officially supported operating system across the Autodesk product line. Autodesk state that they intend to support many of their key products on Windows 10 and will add products to the list of products supported on Windows 10 as updates and future versions are released.

For users on pre 2013 products, these are no longer supported and are not included in considerations of Windows 10 compatibility.

So in summary, until supported please do not upgrade to Windows 10. If you have, technically you should be able to roll back to your previous version within 30 days, however with all things IT there are no cast iron guarantees that this will be totally successful.

Always backup all your data before major configuration changes.

GRAITEC will have a strong presence at Autodesk University 2015, returning to Las Vegas in December for the second time, delivering nine technical classes together with a Booth in the Exhibit Hall. Autodesk University introduces over 10,000 industry professionals to 700 specifically formulated classes, forums and keynote presentations, designed to explore “The Future of Making Things” and discover how technology is changing the way we create.

GRAITEC continues to be at the forefront of delivering cutting edge technology, providing BIM implementation and support services to the AEC industry for almost 30 years, and is delighted yet again to be included in this fantastic, innovative and educational Autodesk event.

Last year, AU 2014 saw GRAITEC attend for the first time delivering a single class which proved a very positive experience, for GRAITEC, for Autodesk and for those delegates who attended. Advance Steel Project: Petrom City

Project description:

Petrom City is a unique project in Romania due to the technical innovations used at constructing the building, the process of ecological rehabilitation of the land, as well as to its architecture and working environmental branding in line with the company values.

The construction is developed on 100,000sqm and is composed of several buildings: Oval Office, Headquarter, Parking Garage, Computer and Data Centers and technical buildings. The project was done in cooperation with an Austrian design company, and all detail drawings and statical calculations were done by Profesional Construct Proiectare company.

Facts and figures:

  • The total gross floor area of Petrom City is of 100,000 sqm
  • The total gross floor area of the offices is of 70,000 sqm
  • All the surfaces covered in glass (facades and interior walls) have 13,000 sqm

Successful Advance Steel User Group in Salt Lake City

From June 09 to 11, GRAITEC’s First North American Advance Steel User Group held in Salt Lake City was an impressive success.

This first edition gave GRAITEC the unique opportunity to gather the core group of its Advance Steel customer base and to develop strong relationship with them. Hugo Michaud, GRAITEC General Manager Americas welcomed all attendees and shared the main objective of this event which was to “offer the most advanced training with our high experienced AS specialists.” Indeed, 30 attendees from 25 companies based in 16 states across the US and Canada came to the User Group to learn more about Advance Steel features and GRAITEC team was ready to face this challenge.

“It has strengthened customer confidence in the company and Autodesk Advance Steel. All participants gave excellent feedback of the event, particularly the high level of GRAITEC experienced speakers and were very pleased to meet Autodesk representatives.” Hugo Michaud, General Manager Americas at GRAITEC

Hugo Michaud was pleased to welcome Autodesk’s team during this event. Michael Gustafson (Industry Strategy Manager, Structural Engineering) gave a presentation about Autodesk Vision and talked about the future of Autodesk Advance Steel in the industry. Then, he was followed by David Naylor (Advance Steel Technical Specialist) who held a complete training about Advance Steel 2016 new features and Stairs & Railings. Their presence and active participation strengthened GRAITEC’s customer confidence in the software.

During three days, Olivier Gervais (CAD Technical Supervisor) and Tommy Moussis (Technical Specialist) held advanced training on other topics: Management tools database, Custom connection, Plateworks etc… Question and Answer sessions also gave the attendees the opportunity to bring their drawing samples and discuss about their specific needs or issues.

Many clients were eager to learn more about Drawing Style Customization. To meet their needs, GRAITEC specialists held advanced training on how to be more efficient with Drawing Styles. Creation of labelling strategies, views and object presentations, dimension strategies and association of dimension strategies & the drawing styles were all covered.

GRAITEC was excited to introduce its new Steel Fabrication Management Information System (MIS) – Advance Workshop 2016. Pascal Beauregard, GRAITEC Local Product Manager, held a presentation about this extremely versatile, well-rounded fabrication management solution. Then, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the new features of GRAITEC Advance PowerPack, the powerful extension for Autodesk® Advance Steel.

GRAITEC’s Advance Design 2016 comes with a brand new ergonomic ribbon-based user interface making it easier to navigate and access tools more efficiently. This version also introduces US, Canadian and Polish design codes together with a EC8 German appendix expanding the reach of Advance Design to additional global markets. New design tools were added for rigid diaphragms for slabs and reinforced concrete ribs design. To support an even more intelligent BIM workflow, the bi-direction link between Advance Design and Autodesk® Revit was updated to enable the sharing of BIM models containing building performance data, including support for transferring the actual FEM results to the Revit® environment.
