Advance Design Steel Connections

One of the most complex and time-consuming phases of the steel structures design is the steel connections calculation. This long and complex process requires precision and efficiency and can become a source of errors with unwanted consequences.
Advance Design Steel Connections (ADSC) is an easy to use and accurate module that offers multiple advantages when it comes to connection design and verification.

Available connection types

The most frequently used connections are available in ADSC. For each connection type, you have a set of advanced options that allow you to modify and customize the corresponding connection. For the calculation of connections and loads combinations, ADSC uses standard methods in accordance with the latest versions of international standards: Eurocode 0 EN1990 – 2003 and Eurocode 3 EN 1993-1-8 – 2005).

Fast connection design

ADSC provides the option to create connections with all the corresponding components and features with a single operation. Starting from these templates, the user can completely customize the connection.

Detailed properties definition

Each connection has a complete set of properties that can be easily defined. For a better understanding, each parameter is illustrated by a small picture in the dialog box. The changes made in the properties dialog box are automatically applied. You can view the modifications in real time, in the graphical area.

Advanced visualization options

For an efficient handling of your model, ADSC offers zoom and view commands that are intuitive and easy to access, pan and orbit functions, various rendering modes, including realistic representations, etc.

Complete calculation reports according to Eurocodes 3

You can obtain complete or synthetic calculation reports for each combination as .rtf or .html files. The reports can be customized to suit your preferences. You can select the information to list in the report along with the verification status:

  • The combination from which the highest stress is obtained, for each verified component.
  • The theoretical formula.
  • The formula for failed verifications only.
  • The work ratio for each verification.

Advance Design Steel Connections is part of the Graitec Advance Suite

Advance Design Steel Connections is part of the Graitec Advance SuiteAs part of the GRAITEC Advance SuiteADSC can be either used as a standalone application or linked with Advance Design.

In standalone mode, ADSC will allow you to easily define the connection (geometry, connected elements, loads, etc.) and design it in a few clicks. Then, you can generate automatically a detailed calculation report and the corresponding drawing.

It is also possible to use this model with Advance Design after a finite element analysis. In this case, Advance Design calculates all the envelopes internal forces for the connection design. Just click in the contextual menu of the connection to export it to ADSC.

Advance Design : Professional Finite Element Analysis Software with Concrete / Steel structures presizing and automatic reports generation

Advance Design®  is specifically dedicated to structural engineers who require a professional and easy-to-use solution for simulating and optimizing all their projects. Advance Design® includes a user-friendly structural modeler, automatic load and combination generators, a powerful FEM analysis engine (static, dynamic, time history, non linear, buckling, large displacement analysis, etc.), comprehensive wizards for designing concrete and steel members, and efficient result post-processing and automatic report generators. It automatically updates all reports, including graphical results when modifications are made to the model.

Advance Design TOP 5 benefits:

1 – Powerful modeling system dedicated to engineers: realistic rendering, floors managements for buildings, complete library of user-definable structural elements, load generator, etc.

2 – Advanced analysis features: automatic mesher, time history analysis, static, dynamic, non linear analysis, etc.

3 – Latest versions of Eurocodes implemented: automatic design of concrete and steel elements according to EC1, EC2, EC3, EC8, with 3D interaction curves, deflections checking, buckling and lateral buckling checking, connections design, etc.

4 – “Result Memory” technology: avoid repetitive tasks by updating automatically all the post-processing documents (views and reports) when changing the 3D model.

5 – BIM and Collaborative work: DXF / DWG / Revit imports, multi-user technology, BIM approach for data synchronization, interoperability with industry standards (SDNF, CIS/2, IFC), etc.

Advance Design: Professional Finite Element Analysis Software according to European standardsInternationalization is a major theme of version 2012 of Advance Design® with the implementation of several new National Appendices to the Eurocodes 0, 1, 2, 3, 5 and 8.

This version also allows users to go further in the application of the Eurocodes with its many additional features: management of buildings open to the wind, design of timber structures to EC5 or calculation of cracks as a function of applied reinforcement to EC2.

Advance Design® is the indispensable tool for the design of large scale projects.

GRAITEC will be exhibiting at NASCC 2012 in Dallas, Texas, April 18-20, 2012

March 22nd, 2012. GRAITEC is pleased to announce that the GRAITEC North American team will be exhibiting at NASCC, the steel conference in Dallas, Texas, on April 18-20, 2012 at booth #610.

The GRAITEC team will be demonstrating Advance Steel 2012, the powerful and user-friendly 3D structural steel detailing and fabrication software that automatically creates drawings, BOMs and NC files, and that communicates with Autodesk® Revit® among other systems.

Version 2012 of Advance Steel provides the user with the choice of CAD platform, AutoCAD or the GRAITEC CAD platform. The team will be demonstrating Advance Steel with both platforms at the NASCC.

GRAITEC will also be demonstrating Advance Design 2012, a superior solution for the structural analysis and design of Reinforced Concrete, Steel and Timber structures according to the latest versions of Eurocodes and North American codes.

During the NASCC, GRAITEC is offering

3 workshops on Thursday, April 19:

Are you ready for the Eurocodes?

Are you ready for the Eurcodes? GRAITEC’s  Advance Design 2012 is!  The latest version includes all of the UK National Annexes for EC0, EC1 (climatic), EC2 (concrete), EC3 (steel) and EC5 (timber).

Many top UK engineering consultancies have already decided to move over from British Standards to the Eurocodes and Advance Design is making this transition very easy.A very intuitive and easy to use CAD interface takes the stress out of model creation and this is made even easier with intelligent BIM connections to many industry standard file types including IFC, SDNF, PSS, CIS2 and DXF.  Fast finite element analysis and design with automatic mesh generation and member optimisation allow for many different iterations of you model in quick succession.  Easy to create result reports and documentation in many formats including DOC, PDF and EXCEL. Advance Design is the complete package for Eurocode Design.
