Vernet Behringer are holding open tech-days at their Dijon offices on 26th and 27th November to showcase their new HD-S compact marking-drilling and milling machine specifically targeted at lighter jobs by small to medium steel fabricators.

The compact size of the HD-S alone makes this machine an attractive proposition for any SME steel fabricator looking to progress their business and take advantage of more automated processes. But the real power of the HD-S comes with its versatility. With a capacity of 400×300 mm and capable of milling, marking, drilling and scribing of H-beams, channels, flats, angles and hollow sections the HD-S delivers real value in all areas.
It was this versatility that Vernet Behringer’s Export Sales Manager Yannick BEAUCHAMP wanted to demonstrate when he invited GRAITEC along, with its steel fabrication management software – Advance Workshop, to connect with the HD-S machine and put it through its paces.
Mr Beachamp stated: “Our Tech-days enable us to meet with interested parties from all over the world and show case our machines. The new HD-S is designed for smaller steel fabricators and we wanted to highlight its full range of possibilities; to show how such a compact machine could deliver high performance in a real-world scenario. We choose to invite GRAITEC, a leader in the structural market, to use Advance Workshop software to drive the HD-S so that visitors could explore its full range of capabilities in a live working environment.”
With other machines on display including the FG Evo for drilling, milling, marking and deburring plates and gussets, the new RD-X plasma cutting robot arm and the HD-X Evo multispindle drilling-milling machine, Vernet Behringer open days are very well supported and more dates are planned next year to meet demand.
GRAITEC staff will be on hand to discuss Advance Workshop during the event.

GRAITEC is delighted to announce its file collaboration and interoperability app for Revit, BIM Connect 2016, is now available as a free download directly from the Autodesk Exchange App Store.
This powerful, free extension for Autodesk® Revit® from GRAITEC provides bi-directional, intelligent Structural Building Information Modeling (BIM) model sharing, including the transfer of FEM results data, between GRAITEC Advance BIM Suite (Advance Design, Arch, SuperSTRESS, …) and Autodesk® Revit® Architecture, Autodesk® Revit® MEP, Autodesk® Revit® Structure and Autodesk® Advance Steel products.
Sharing both the geometrical shapes, including dynamic concrete-section mapping to Revit Families, together with analytical FEM results, creates a new pathway of intelligence-driven BIM workflows which assures a more robust “platform” ready to utilize the high-level of automation promised by next-gen BIM technology.
GRAITEC BIM Connect also supports multi-discipline and multi-platform workflows, enabling import and export of recognized industry BIM and collaboration formats; IFC, CIS2, SDNF and PSS, to support interoperability across a wide spectrum of disciplines and at any level.
BIM technology is changing how buildings, infrastructure and utilities are planned, designed and built. It is now essential to have intelligent BIM workflows in place to retain the integrity of models and associated data. Using BIM Connect as part of an intelligent BIM workflow makes it easy to link Revit models with its counterpart analytical model from GRAITEC Advance Suite.

Carl Spalding, GRAITEC Product Strategy Director comments: “The uptake of BIM is growing at an exceptional rate. But as companies adopt new technologies and skills they will also need to evolve their primitive, siloed workflows in order to realize the full potential of a truly intelligent BIM workflow. GRAITEC BIM Connect enables users to collaborate effectively with accurate BIM models but goes way beyond geometry to include building performance intelligence. Enabling access to constructability intelligence beyond the realm of the structural engineer office, promotes a process where design decisions can continue to be taken with confidence throughout the design phase. More importantly, this opens up new opportunities to take advantage of unrivaled automation offered by the next generation of BIM technology to come.“

Carl Spalding, Group Product Strategy Director at GRAITEC, speaks about Autodesk Desktop Subscription:
“[…] Let me ask you…what makes your company stand out from the crowd? What makes your company better and more successful than your competitors? Not hard is it…the people. Better yet, you! Oh, not the new software then?!
Speaking of software, CAD eventually defeated the drawing board. In a fraction of the time, BIM too will defeat CAD. It’s an inescapable reality.
Anyone who knows what they are talking about, will tell you that truly successful BIM implementation requires a great deal of knowledge, covering an enormous variety of ever changing workflows, processes, software, technology and legislation.
Today, Autodesk offers the most extensive array of design, BIM, detailing data management and visualization software technology ever. Making this full range of software available via a Desktop Subscription model, at a fraction of the initial upfront cost, affords companies the opportunities to react faster, do more in less time and become infinitely more versatile.
But the real question is, how will companies actually be able to take full advantage of all this technology without the appropriate skill set to use it effectively? Surely it’s time to take a reality check? […]”
